McGreivey’s, Originally opened in, 1876 as McGreivey’s Northern Hotel in historic Waterford, N.Y. Waterford is the point of confluence for the Hudson and Mohawk rivers and the point where the Champlain and Erie Canals meet. McGreivey’s has tried to honor the village’s vibrant past with scenes of local locks and harbors decorating the walls. The “Waterford flight” of locks is one of the highest in the world. Many boaters travel through the locks in Waterford as it is the entrance to the modern New York State Canal system. Waterford is home to the Northeast’s largest annual Tugboat festival.
